Hooray for February!

It has been a great month of fun-ness! February is a fun month because it's a short month, we have Valentine's Day, birthday month, and President's Day. So, if this post ends up to be a little long, have stamina and hang in there until the end.
Since I'm student teaching, I hadn't experienced Valentine's Day in years in the classroom. Once you enter high school and college, there isn't too much of excitement for this day. Personally, Brandon and I aren't huge fans about the whole holiday, but in the classroom, it's sheer pandemonium, but a good pandemonium. It was so nice to see the kids so excited to pass out their treats and cards. I didn't get any pictures from this event, but trust me, it was fun.
The day after Valentine's Day happens to be my birthday. Feel sorry for my husband? No need to. I try to be considerate and don't over-indulge in gifts....most of the time, mostly, kind of. I went in to student teach and happened to find an accessory from a few weeks ago in my bag. My site teacher that I'm working with thought it would be fun if I put it on during my math instruction, why not? Long story short, the kids loved it and they thought that it was so funny. You see, even teachers can have some fun in the classroom. Okay, so it was a mustache. It's a thick one, too! I would post pictures I took from my class, but I can't show you pictures of the munchkins, sorry. To make up for it, I do have another picture of my little sister-in-law and I with our 'staches at a U of U gymnastics meet.
We also had our annual birthday bash for my sisters, the Twinkies and I this past weekend. I posted about our party from last year as well, so if you want to see what we did last year, go here. This year, we celebrated up in Salt Lake City at our place and went to a Jazz game. It was fun! Here are some pictures from the festivities...

Birthday girls, 2012

The gang. Missing Nefi, but he'll be back in 10 1/2 months.
It was a fun weekend, but an exhausting weekend too. Although we had a great time celebrating our birthdays, Brandon and I lost a grandpa yesterday in the morning. Brandon's grandpa had been very sick for the past few years, especially months. We were blessed to have spent the last few days of his life with him. He was and still is a cute man. I never thought I would love my grandparents from my husband's side as much as my blood grandparents, but I was wrong. I love them all, equally. I am so happy that he loved me as if I were his own and made me feel so loved. He was so music savvy (especially Frank Sinatra) and knowledgeable in a ton of things.  Those are just a few things that made him such a unique person.

It's normal to feel some sadness, but I am more at peace knowing that he is no longer in pain. I am grateful that we had the opportunity to talk to him in his final days. He was so aware and responsive, even if his answers were one-word answers or mumbles. I also know that this isn't the end or the last time I will see my Grandpa Keller. I know I will see him again. Heavenly Father is so great to have a plan for his children. I love it.
A lot has happened for us this month, and the month isn't even over yet! Student teaching is going well. Just had parent teacher conferences almost two weeks ago, where I was able to translate and at times conduct the conferences myself in Spanish with the parents. It was awesome! Brandon's 'fro is getting more fluffy! I will have to get a picture of it now until May to show you the growth, really.
I hope all of you have had a great month so far!
